Håkan Chocolatier

Signature Collection

The assortment changes with the season. The fitting does not.

A rigid setup box open, rows of shaped cavities cut into the black paper fitting

Square bonbons, round ones, domed ones, whatever comes next. They all sit in the same insert, which means one tool and one box across the entire collection. It is paper, formed in Brooklyn, so nothing plastic goes in the box. A chocolatier notices that on the second order rather than the first, and then never stops noticing it.

Håkan trained in Sweden, so the paper is Swedish. Not sentiment. It is an uncoated sheet, matte and slightly fibrous, and it is the reason the logo works. The mark is a combination stamp, gloss black foil and emboss in a single hit, black on black. None of it reads as colour. It appears because the foil is glossy and the paper is not, and it lifts and disappears depending on where you are standing.

There is no glue in the shell. The wrap and the fold hold it, which brings the box close to compostable and leaves an edge that a glued wrap flattens out. Slower to build. Better in the hand.

The finished boxes went sixty miles up the Hudson to Beacon.
